The main issue at recent Belton council meetings and in my discussions with Ward 4 residents has been water bills. According to residents, the charges seem much higher than those in surrounding communities. Stranger still, many don’t make sense, like the one new (<5 years old) home with one resident that received a monthly bill for about $1000. I cannot conceive of this. I’ve written 2 blogs on my website about water bills (robpowell4ward4belton.com), but I cannot figure out these huge bills without more data.
This may backfire, but I’m posting a copy of my water bill (see below) to define each line on the page. Your bill should look similar IF you have 2 people in your household who keep moderately clean and wash their clothes and dishes.
IF your bill looks a lot different, I invite you to send me a copy (blank out anything you don’t want to share) at rob@robpowell4ward4belton.com, the number of people in your household, and any unusual situations, e.g., you drive for Uber and have to wash your car every day.
I’ll review the figures in your bill, and if it looks strange, I’ll investigate it with the city. I will NOT sign you up for anything like an inspection, a leak check, or a phone call from the city. I’ll only get back to you with my findings.
