As a resident in Ward4, I want a councilperson that represents me by responding to my communications, tries his/her best to solve Ward4 problems, balances Ward 4 needs against the needs of all of Belton, and keeps me updated on local activities that may be important to me. I plan to do this for you, starting right NOW!

Emphasizing Quality of Life over Commercial Expansion

I'm always excited to hear about a new restaurant or store moving to Belton. But right now I think we have enough fast food, building supplies, clothing, etc. We need to slow down the commercial growth and raise the quality of life for all citizens. Yes, sales taxes support over 50% of the Belton budget, but who wants to live here if our streets are full of cars, our houses are always locked, our sidewalks crumble away, we have no recycling program, and delivery truck noise and pollution are our background sound? Our housing values should be increasing. Let's take off a couple of years of robust commercial expansion and concentrate on improving our neighborhoods!

Fix our Infrastructure while Building Responsibly

Belton has recently passed tax increases to upgrade streets and water/sewer lines. That's a start, but how is YOUR street right now? How much are you having to pay for water/sewer service? Do you have a park within walking distance? Can you walk to your church, grocery store, mailbox, or favorite restaurant via a sidewalk in good condition? New housing is important, but that housing must meet our codes and be designed for people who need housing most.
